School Tax Relief (STAR) Program Information

All exemption applications must be returned to the Assessor's Office by March 1.
Basic STAR requirements:

You must own the property for which you are applying for the exemption

The property must be your primary residence
Enhanced STAR requirements:
-
Owner (if property is owned by husband and wife, only one must be 65 years old) must be at least 65 years old

You must own the property for which you are applying for the exemption

The property must be your primary residence

Proof of age and ownership needs to be provided with original application only
-
Income is less than $79,050 (IRA distributions are not included)
-
Enhanced STAR application must be renewed every year

Over 65 – Low Income Exemption
All applications must be filed in the Assessor’s Office by March 1 (of every year). Exemptions must be renewed every year.
Requirements:

Maximum income for this exemption is $25,525

Social Security (gross)

Pensions and Retirement

Interest and dividends

Interest only on IRA’s or Annuities (distributions are not included)
