Councilman Retzlaff is a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield. He served seven years on the Town Zoning Board of Appeals prior to his election to Town Council starting January 1, 2014. Councilman Retzlaff is a liaison to the Highway Department and has worked to use his knowledge of site development and highways along with infrastructure design and installation and maintenance to address issues. He also serves on the Agriculture Focus Group in the Town. This group is for smart development while trying to preserve our once rich farming community.

Mr. Retzlaff is a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School and Erie County Community College with a degree in Civil Construction Technology.

Councilman Retzlaff grew up working on the family farm. He has worked in the construction business for over 30 years with responsibilities including planning, performing and completing projects on time and on budget. He currently works for a developer in the Buffalo area as a Site Construction Supervisor. He owns and operates a small trucking business in the Town for 17 years.

He is a former board member of Cayuga Youth Athletic Association and was instrumental in the design and construction of their 93rd Street Complex. He volunteered much time while this complex was developed. CYAA is a not for profit organization that provides for area youth to play softball and baseball.

Councilman Retzlaff plays recreational hockey in the Niagara Falls Alumni Hockey League, is an active member of the Shawnee Sno-Chiefs Snowmobile Club and Niagara River Yacht Club. He is a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Councilman Retzlaff lives on Lockport Road and is married to the former Darla Kroening. Together they are the parents of 5 children, Amanda and Scott and Tyler, Matthew, and Brock. They have three grandsons, Ethan, Camden and Mark.
